"Why Are You Here?". A simple question. With a fairly simple answer.
But between the question and its answer, Donya manages to create a spellbinding situation that puts the reader on the edge of his/her seat.
Spellbinding, thanks to the handling of the interaction of the antagonists. Or rather, thanks to the mind's eye of the girl.
Her thoughts and feelings are the spine of the story, not the story itself.
The girl is so expertly painted, in simple, sparse words that form musings and anticipations, creating an atmosphere of dread; yet at the same time one of expectation.
"Why Are You Here?" is one of those stories where a 'reviewer' regrets that the score doesn't go any higher than ten, because this one merits the double.
Perfect.
