Hmmm...amateur writers are just that, amateurs, and are on their way to polishing their art and honing their talents. The technical stuff can come later, but technical expertise in and of itself does not guarantee an enjoyable read. After all, if we were better golfers we'd be Tiger Woods. The writer has to have a feel, an affinity, for her subject matter and this author does. I enjoyed this.
long another vein, I happen to think it might be fun to own the author! ;-) (8/10)

Fox: Clearly you have read my review with disaproving eyes. I was probably more harsh on this author than was waranted. However, I see far more potential in this author than I do in myself. My comments, harsh as they were, were stated with the intent of improvement.
Incidentally, she and I have spoken and she understands my direction with regards to this review. As regards your final comment, you may be right. She seems to be a lovely woman.

I felt as if the author was trying too hard with this piece. The descriptions seemed to be over done and the sugar seemed to be far too sweet. A little more subtlety would have gone a long way. Grammatically I had a terrible time. Run on sentences and paragraphs abounded, detracting signifigantly from the crafting of this tale. Also, there were a few changes of persepective - from past tense to present tense.
**Judging from the coments of other reviewers I am in the minority. However, I do believe that a few more subtelties, less sacharine and a good edit would improve this story's dramatic and erotic appeal substancially. (6/10)

You are absolutely right about the technicalities, H Dean... But I feel you are being a tad harsh on Miss Ciancio by giving out only 6 out of a possible 10...
The main point here, is the story, and that, Mr H Dean, is in any way very captivating.
Most important, I feel that Miss Ciancio has succeeded in capturing a certain mood, a mood that's giving the story a special aura, gives the characters an extra dimension, makes them the more real...
To be able to capture that mood, you need talent... And that is what miss Ciancio defenitely has in vast quantities...
The fine-tuning of the technicalities will come automatically, with time and experience...
Again, I do agree with most of the things you point out, but, as an example, I know a couple of language purists who never in their lifetime will be able to write a story like Miss Sandra Ciancio wrote... Their stories might/would be gramatically correct, without errors in time-perspective, but, alas, their stories would suck big-time...
Cheers
JJ

I take issue with your rating this story so low. Have you never walked the French Quarter, taken in the sights and sounds. Getting caught up in not only what is going on around you but the "ghosts of a time gone by". I have. You may not have liked the way it was written, but it captures a reality only one has lived.

With respect to those who disagree with my assessment I stand by my review. The nature of her writing was quite vivid. However, the failures of this piece did a considerable amount of damage to an otherwise solid piece of work. I do not see how ignoring the obvious errors (and they were quite obvious)will help her to improve as an author. Frankly, I view the review/rating system as a means to improve my own work and to help others to improve. Thus, it would have been wrong to ignore those things that detracted from an otherwise excellent tale.
**My apologies to the author if I seemed harsh. I do not mean to discourage but to offer an honest assessment.
**Quick edit for Sternhand - I have yet to visit the streets of New Orleans. However, the ambition of this tale was to paint the streets for the reader. This reader had to retrace his steps to find the proper flavor of those streets due to mistakes which could have been fixed through editing.

Great story, I lived the events as you wrote them, it drew me in and held me. Instead of a mindless sex story, it showed a relationship between Dom and sub. Sandie, I look forward to reading more from you. (10/10)

Humid, sultry, and very very hot. She is bold in her need, he is if anything tender in his demands. I do hope we can watch as he explores his acquisition. A truly great story and a reminder as to why we should rebuild the grand old city. (10/10)

All hail to thee, Sandra Ciancio...
Beautifully written, excellent story. Nice to once in a while see a Diamond shining from in-between the plain rocks...
Looking forward to reading lots and lots more from your talented hand...
Regards
