This story is set in a far-distant place where slavery is a simple fact of life. It isn’t a tale of the beautiful languid sex-slaves who certainly inhabit that place, but of the wretched creatures at the very bottom of a cruel and deeply hierarchical society. The slave-owners described are not brutal sadists. They are merely businessmen in a universe where there is such a complete and cruel indifference to the fate of mere slaves that it is perfectly acceptable to use human beings as disposable tools in work that is brutally hard and certainly fatal. The story-teller starts her tale as one of those uncaring slave-users but the act of heedlessly expending the lives of helpless human beings for profit can produce unexpected consequences, even in a heartless killer. |

- <br /><b>Warning</b>: Function eregi_replace() is deprecated in <b>/home/bdsmlibr/public_html/stories/reply_edit.php</b> on line <b>16</b><br />Sorry that this genre is not for you Transformateur. We can't all like everything. You were warned that it was Sci.Fi in the codes and in the index so if you gave this such low rating only because of the genre then I consider that is a little unfair. If you gave that low rating for my writing style then I must accept it. Thanks anyway for bothering to post any freeback.

Very nice! I love a story where a mercenary meets a victim who through her actions ultimately changes the mercenary for the better. I assumed the "primitive planet" many of the slaves were kidnapped from (including the doctor) was Earth from the beginning, since the story made no references or allusions to some members of this civilization having once lived on Earth. And yeah, I can well imagine that's how many interstellar travelers would see us Earthlings: as "primitives." When you've mastered interstellar travel, and have drugs that can keep people alive and looking young for centuries and can treat or cure almost any disease or ailment (presumably without surgery), even today's Earth, with the most advanced surgical techniques available today, would seem quite primitive -- maybe even bordering on barbaric -- to such people. I can't wait to read more of your works! (10/10)
