just wonderful. so many different styles of writing and all well done. the considered use of words, they are placed carefully as an artist places strokes, to complete the canvas. and not tyring to fill the page with too much information. each snippet complete in itself. wow (10/10)

Inherently Unfair! I will review only the stories that I like. Envy gets a TEN! I loved it, I laughed. Pride gets an eight, maybe even a nine. Sketching out a character in a page and putting a suprise ending in takes real craftsmanship. Unfortunately, nothing approaching top quality corporal punishment style sadism. But damn that envy piece was good.
"Air" was the pick of the litter. The image was vivid and the ending was unexpected only because of the prejudices of the reader. Possibly the all time best piece of short fiction ever published on this site. Plausible, realistic and the writing transformed prose into poetry.
"Wood" was one of the better in the series, unexpected yet very good.
"Water" and "Metal" would have been considered great if not run in the context of "Air" and "Wood".
Thank you for the most entertaining series of short pieces to ever run on this site. (10/10)

- "Pride" was the last one written and actually the one that required the greatest thought. <br>As for corporal punishment sadism, come on - how much more corporal (corporeal?) can I get? *GRIN*<br>Thank you for your comments.

So nicely, and deliciously done. Somehow and in some way Japanese Haiku comes to my mind **smile** (8/10)

- Thank you Emily, for your review. Your observation is accurate: the one-page concept for "Snippets" originates, albeit indirectly, from that wonderful Japanese form. Poetry is not my mettle, prose is more my form.

I love it! Excellent plot twists right at the end of each of the Seven Mortal Sins.
The Steak... I thought that was brilliant.
Fox, that last one though was mean :D Is that an actual quote? *rolling eyes if so* (9/10)

- Heh heh, the last one is a little poke at me, no one else. That's why it's "Envy"... There might be a dig or two at the Britney Spears crowd, too.

I liked "Rodin" best I think - although I must say I had never imagined that "Le Penseur"'s pose had been orchestrated in quite that way.
I don't know Dali's work well -- but in this vignette he comes across as an "Emperor of Ice Cream"
La Gioconda's secret smile has been the subject of speculation for half a millennium -- your interpretation is as good as any.
And as for Gauguin, the ultimate user, he seems to have gotten both his moon and his sixpence worth from the fair-skinned demoiselle on that remote beach in the South Seas.
En fin, interesting studies, or perhaps one should say, impressions. But I had rather you had explored one idea deeply, than daubed the outline of four works on a single canvas. (7/10)

- Impressions - nice pun. But there should be 5 works, not four. What happened to Picasso? Of the five artists, he was the most varied in style - and libido. And of the five, only Gauguin was an impressionist *grin* ps. thanks for correcting my spelling of his name.

- Sorry for having skipped over Picasso; I must have been going through my blue period. Once again some nice suggestions, faintly sketched; did you have "Les Demoiselles d'Avignon" and their 'cubic hair' in mind as you wrote this?

- Serendipity - finding something you were not looking for. Your selection of "Les Demoiselles d'Avignon" for Picasso is perfect - not for the hair, but for the use of masks and the meaning behind them. See the MoMA description of the painting.
